  • Noted filmmaker and explorer James Cameron, and environmental advocate and author Suzy Amis Cameron, announce the launch of MUSE Virtual, a new, holistic online learning platform responsive to the challenges of parents looking for innovative educational options for students kindergarten through 12th grade.

MUSE Virtual is inspired by the internationally recognized, award-winning MUSE School, a high-performance learning lab that focuses on eco-literacy and serves as a beacon of sustainable living and design founded in 2006 by Suzy and her sister, Rebecca Amis.

"Our highest priority in creating MUSE Virtual is to ensure the health and safety of our students, administrators, faculty and teachers during COVID-19 and beyond by staying safe at home – all while students experience a fulfilling, unique, online education," said Suzy Amis Cameron, Founder.

In addition to its rigorous core curriculum, MUSE Virtual offers course work in theater, music, art, movement, seed-to-table cooking and much more -- empowering students to access and explore their unique passions and interests beyond academics, even as they remain safe at home during the pandemic. Ingrained into each element of MUSE Virtual's model are the school's five pillars: Passion-Based Learning, Academics, Sustainability, Communication, and Self-Efficacy.

"The relationship between teacher and student is imperative to a child's academic success -- and is more crucial now, than ever, as young people everywhere are grappling with an increasingly uncertain future," said Suzanne McClure, Director of MUSE Virtual. "We strongly believe that our MUSE Virtual platform provides students and families with a consistent, supportive, and thoughtful education model that so many are currently seeking. All the while keeping students, teachers and parents safe in our new reality of COVID-19."

MUSE Virtual is the solution for parent's virtual education search. "My husband and I are so grateful for everything MUSE Virtual is doing for students -- from impressive remote learning to enjoyment through teaching, the experience is joyous for our children. They are so happy to see MUSE teachers, fellow classmates daily and are actually fond of their classwork," said Maria Gregori, MUSE Parent.

  • Mending Kids, a nonprofit organization is hosting its first ever "MASKrAID Campaign" virtual online auction to raise funds for the ongoing shortages of PPE for frontline health care workers, teachers and students in disadvantaged communities.

The auction will launch on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

Up for bid will be a collection of one-of-a-kind celebrity designed/illustrated masks. Matthew McConaughey, Thandie Newton, Kaia Gerber, Gene Simmons, Courteney Cox, Sam Elliott, and dozens more iconic and civic-minded individuals have come together in support of Mending Kids' commitment to serve children, teachers, and frontline workers in areas suffering from the financial devastation of the pandemic.

Over the past few months COVID-19 has worsened and amplified the health disparity gap among disproportionately inequitable populations. With the push to open schools, educators are the new frontline workers. As in-person learning resumes, these communities will have an urgent and overwhelming need for basic safety supplies.

Like many organizations, Mending Kids has also been affected by the pandemic, but rather than close its doors, the nonprofit has taken a proactive stance by redirecting its efforts to serve and bring relief to local communities in need. The "MASKrAID Campaign" aims to fight health disparities in depressed areas.

The first weeklong auction opens to the public on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. MASKrAID will not be a typical auction, but a powerful and impactful event to raise awareness, support the vulnerable and save lives. To help raise critical funds, promote iconic individuals and learn more about MASKrAID please click here.

"More importantly, we have always been champions of addressing health disparity and we think that MASKrAID will be a great opportunity for iconic individuals to come together and throw their mask in the ring in support of kids everywhere." -Isabelle Fox, Executive Director Mending Kids

  • The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has granted nearly £1.8 million in supporting the frontline community and the nation's mental health, through a bespoke fund which was set up as part of the organisation's response to COVID-19.

The grants -- made to ten leading charities at the heart of mental health and frontline support -- build on the work that The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has already done in recent months to support those on the frontline of the pandemic in the UK, and the mental health sector.

Earlier this week, The Duke and Duchess spoke to four representatives from organisations which will benefit from the fund, including two emergency responders and two mental health counsellors. They heard about the challenges facing organisations and how mental health support will be needed both for those working on the frontline and those delivering vital support to the nation.

"Over recent months we have all been in awe of the incredible work that frontline staff and emergency responders have been doing in response to COVID-19, but we know that for many of them, their families, and for thousands of others across the UK, the pandemic will have a lasting impact on their mental health," said The Duchess of Cambridge.

As a result of The Royal Foundation's COVID-19 Response Fund, and in partnership with NHS England, individual grief trauma counselling from Hospice UK will be available for all frontline workers.

In addition, over 250,000 emergency responders will have access to peer-to-peer support, training and mental health resources from Mind's Blue Light mental health support programme, building on the support that is already available from other sources, including employers and Our Frontline.

"It's great to hear how The Royal Foundation is supporting you and many others to build resilience and give you the networks you need through its COVID-19 Response Fund, which will help ten leading charities continue their crucial work," said The Duke of Cambridge.

To support the nation's mental health during this time, but also in the months and years ahead, grants have been given to mental health charities to increase their capacity for helpline and chat services to meet rising demand.

Together, the grants made through the COVID-19 Response Fund ensure that:
    All emergency responders will have access to individual grief trauma counselling from Hospice UK;
    Over 250,000 emergency responders will have access to peer-to-peer support through Mind's Blue Light programme;
    The Ambulance Staff Charity will be able to provide an additional 2,780 hours of support for the UK's ambulance community;
    Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) will be able to respond to 2,300 more contacts each month;
    Shout 85258 will be able to have 250 more text message conversations with people who are struggling to cope every day;
    The Mix will expand their group chat service for young people to seven days per week;
Teachers, children and their parents will be supported to cope with mental health needs, including self-care and managing anxiety as schools re-open, thanks to training and resources from Place2Be and The Anna Freud Centre; and
An additional 20,000 new mothers will be supported by Best Beginnings, thanks to a community mental health training project to reach pregnant women and new parents.

Funding will also build the capacity of the Heads Together partners as they work together on campaigning activity to directly address the nation's mental health as the population adjusts to life after COVID-19.

  • Continuing its philanthropic partnership with Save the Children, Ferrari will auction one of the earliest of the new Ferrari Roma to be delivered to North America with added star-power from Maroon 5's Adam Levine and his wife, supermodel and philanthropist Behati Prinsloo.

Maroon 50s Adam Levine and wife Behati Prinsloo join forces with Ferrari to benefit Save the Children
Maroon 50s Adam Levine and wife Behati Prinsloo join forces with Ferrari to benefit Save the Children

They joined together today with Matteo Torre, President of Ferrari North America, for a virtual event to kick-off the collaboration which will culminate with the announcement this fall of the auction winner of the Ferrari Roma at Save the Children's virtual gala.

In 2017, a LaFerrari Aperta was auctioned to benefit Save the Children at the company's 70th anniversary "Leggenda e Passione" event. That sale raised US$10 million for the charitable organization, which used it to advance international education programs.

"We're delighted to open the next chapter of Ferrari's ongoing collaboration with Save the Children," says Matteo Torre, "and we now want to support their critical education work here in the United States. We believe that during this crisis, it is our responsibility to help those who often don't have a voice and to address their challenges to ensure that children continue to learn and grow."

With significant uncertainty around child care and school re-openings nationwide, wide-scale learning loss could be among the biggest impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on children across the United States. Save the Children is working across America to support education programs by offering free learning resources and support for parents and caregivers. To date, Save the Children has served more than 178,000 children and their families in 200 rural communities.

"Behati and I couldn't be happier to be a part of this unique project and ultimately help a charity that we are fully supportive of," says Adam Levine. "As so many other parents worldwide, during this time we have been focused first and foremost on taking care of our girls, and Save the Children is helping countless children and families with crucial education resources."

"Kids are so vulnerable with everything going on in the world today, and the incredible work of Save the Children to shield them is vital more now than ever," says Behati Prinsloo.

Adam Levine continues to be an avid Ferrarista, and over the years has owned examples of Maranello's finest, both classic (a 1966 330 GTC, 1969 365 GTC, 1971 365 GTB/4 "Daytona," 1963 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, 1965 275 GTB/2) and most recently a Tailor Made F12tdf.

The new Ferrari Roma places emotional connection first, both through its exhilarating performance and timeless design, making it a fitting focal point for this charitable initiative. The Roma embodies "La Nuova Dolce Vita" (the New Sweet Life), taking its design inspiration from the concept of sporty elegance celebrated in the most legendary grand touring Ferraris of the 1960s -- the most striking example being the 250 Grand Turismos, including the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso. Timeless and refined, from a technical point of view the Ferrari Roma introduces a series of unparalleled features that put it at the top of its segment in terms of performance and driving enjoyment.

Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "The golf community stands with us all year long supporting our life-saving work. This year, we're asking fans to participate virtually, by engaging in the Birdies for St. Jude campaign, as an important way to help raise funds and awareness so the world can witness how kindness and compassion from our partners, the athletes and fans creates such a meaningful and lasting impact on the kids at St. Jude."

Patient art is an important feature of the tournament as it displays not only the talent of St. Jude kids, but also that art is a key component of the treatment and care at St. Jude. In 2019, patient art was featured on caddie bibs and FedEx collaborated with FootJoy and St. Jude to create and deliver a special pair of shoes for Justin Thomas, including a design by patient Bailey. For 2020, art will play an even bigger role. Several patients' works of art will be prominent on caddie bibs and others featured by athletes and then as charity auction items through Birdies for St. Jude during the tournament. Thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Many St. Jude patients, including those who have provided their artwork this year, are at the heart of what makes the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational so special. Their strength and inspirational stories always make an impact on PGA TOUR pros and fans alike. For example, resident competitive golfers, Dakota, 14, and Ally, 17, hope to become professional golfers one day. Earlier this year, Dakota carded his first career hole-in-one while still in treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He recently completed treatment and returns for ongoing checkups. Ally, a strong competitor and inspiration on her high school golf team, is now out of treatment after a diagnosis of medulloblastoma, a rare brain tumor.

St. Jude patient Caleb, 11, is a fan of professional wrestling and is currently in treatment for ALL. Nate, 10, is now out of treatment for medulloblastoma and spends his time focusing on his favorite sports, golf, video games and basketball. Feature stories on St. Jude patients and their participation in the tournament are available on St. Jude Inspire.

Donor support during the World Golf Championships-St. Jude Invitational helps St. Jude continue its lifesaving mission: Finding cures. Saving children.

Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened more than 50 years ago. The global awareness opportunity during the WGC-FESJI is important because St. Jude freely shares its groundbreaking discoveries, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists can use that knowledge to save thousands more children around the world. St. Jude will not stop until no child dies from cancer.

  • Poker players of every skill level are invited to go "all in" for a good cause as Miracle Flights, the nation's leading medical flight charity, hosts its first-ever online poker tournament on Wednesday, August 5 at 7 p.m. EDT/4 p.m. PDT.

Celebrities scheduled to appear include Brad Garrett, Richard Kind, Michael Ian Black, Oksana Baiul and poker pro Matt Berkey. A $100 buy-in earns players a spot in the tournament—and goes directly to support Miracle Flights, the national nonprofit that provides free plane tickets to families who need specialized medical treatment far from home. Registration is currently open here.

The poker tournament marks the first online fundraiser for Miracle Flights, which has been flying families to distant medical care for 35 years. The organization has continued its mission amid the Covid-19 pandemic and even expanded its services to help more families in need—relaxing its income guidelines, coordinating ground transportation and providing face masks to every flyer.

"For so many families, postponing life-saving medical treatment is simply not an option," says Miracle Flights CEO Mark E. Brown. "Every dollar raised in this tournament will not only help alleviate the financial burden these families face, but also ease the emotional stress that comes with having to travel during the pandemic."

Brown will join Faded Spade Card Club CEO Tom Wheaton as co-host of the tournament, which will stream live on Twitch.

  • No Kid Hungry, a national campaign to end childhood hunger in America, announces Viola Davis as its newest National Spokesperson, joining as the campaign releases an in-depth research report on the state of childhood hunger in the U.S. four months into the COVID-19 crisis.

With Davis lending her voice to amplify the report's findings, "The Longest Summer: Childhood Hunger in the Wake of the Coronavirus" explores the impact of job loss and school closures on families across the country, particularly their ability to feed their children.

Davis, who has been public about her own experience with childhood hunger, having grown up in abject poverty, knows this reality intimately:

"The uncertainty of where your next meal will come from is a scary thing and it consumes every waking moment you have," she said. "I still remember what it was like—the stigma attached to it and the shame—that's what so many families are going through right now. Your sense of value and worth are taken away from you when you're food insecure. If I can play a role in helping a child feel seen and regain their sense of value, I'm all in every time because I know what it would've meant to me. You have no idea the potential we could tap into just by solving this one problem for kids."

Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis, the report offers new survey data and poignant video diaries, providing an intimate look into the homes and lives of real families impacted by the ongoing crisis.

Among the report's most revealing results, half of American families (47%) are currently living with hunger—with Black (53%) and Latino (56%) children among the most heavily impacted. Furthermore, essential workers (74%) make up the majority of working food insecure households. And while unprecedented job loss has led to new families facing food insecurity, a significant number (85%) were living with hunger even before the crisis began.

"COVID-19 isn't only creating a new hunger problem, it is also exposing a deeply-rooted issue that has long impacted families in our country," said Billy Shore, founder and executive chair of Share Our Strength, the organization behind the No Kid Hungry campaign. "In September 2019, one out of every seven households with children faced food insecurity; that number quickly increased in the early months of the pandemic, revealing that many families were just one lost job, health crisis or stalled school meal program away from hunger."

As one video diary participant, Kyle, a New York-based father, noted: "When you're in a tough situation like this you basically go into survival mode and go back to the basics. How am I going to keep a roof over my son's head and how am I going to keep food on our table?"

The research also reveals promising implications for future change, as COVID-19 opens America's eyes to hunger:
Nearly 6 in 10 Americans think food insecurity is getting worse since COVID-19 (58%) and agree more should be done for children (57%). Americans also agree that support at the public policy level is key, as three quarters (76%) believe the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—which offers food budget assistance to families in need—should have its funding maintained or increased.

As part of her work with No Kid Hungry, Davis too has been vocal about her support for SNAP; she penned a letter to Congress urging it to strengthen the program in light of the growing number of families in need of food assistance. "While it will take a combination of resources to help our nation's low-income families and children," she wrote, "one of the best ways to feed hungry kids during a pandemic is by making sure their families have the resources to feed themselves."

Despite setbacks in the country's progress toward ending childhood hunger in the wake of the pandemic, Shore remains hopeful:
"Childhood hunger, even during COVID-19, is solvable," he said. "Experience teaches that federal food programs, schools and community groups are crucial to feeding kids all year long, including during the summer. This is often the hungriest time of year for children who rely on school meals which means, for many, this crisis has felt like the longest summer yet."

  • Ricky Gervais, pop star Mýa, actors Dame Judi Dench, Olivia Newton-John and Tzi Ma, and renowned conservationist Dame Jane Goodall have come together to record an impassioned video calling for a reset of humanity's relationship with nature in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis and its zoonotic origins. However it's two baby bears who have stolen the spotlight.

In mid-July, as the celebrities recorded their video messages, Animals Asia rescued two three-month-old moon bear cubs that had been illegally trapped and put on sale on the black market, and are now taking care of them at the NGO's sanctuary in Tam Dao, Vietnam.

"If this crisis has taught us anything, it's the power of leaving nature alone – and that The Only Cure is Kindness", said British comedian Ricky Gervais. "We've got so much to learn from animals and nature – and there is so much we can do to help. Animals Asia are actively harnessing that kindness to end bear-bile farming, rescuing bears and taking care of them. Let's be kinder to nature, and kinder and more forgiving to each other too".

The actors, musicians and conservationists came together – virtually – to raise awareness of the plight of the Asiatic black bear, or ‘moon bear,' and the urgent need to end the practice of bear bile farming – where bears are held in tiny cages so that their bile can be extracted for use in traditional medicine. NGO Animals Asia, which created the video to mark Moon Bear Day on August 8th, aims to rescue 500 bears currently in bear bile farms in Vietnam by 2022, so they can live out their lives in a sanctuary with world class care 2. To date, Animals Asia has rescued 634 bears, and has agreement with Vietnamese authorities to completely end bear bile farming in Vietnam by 2022 3.

The video, featuring Ricky Gervais, Jane Goodall, Mulan star Tzi Ma, Dame Judi Dench, Downton Abbey stars Peter Egan and Lesley Nicol, Guns'n'Roses rockers Slash and Matt Sorum, and actors Olivia Newton-John AC DBE, Virginia McKenna OBE, Joanna Lumley OBE, James Cromwell, Alicia Silverstone, Louis Hofmann, Daniel Gillies, Celina Jade, Maggie Q, Dustin Nguyen, Kristin Bauer, Michelle Forbes, Tara Buck, poet Benjamin Zephaniah, Vietnamese TV Presenter Minh Trang Nguyen, musician Rick Wakeman and singers Han Geng and Mýa, highlights the mistreatment animals as a root cause of pandemics such as the Covid19 crisis, in response "The Only Cure is Kindness". Actor Joaquin Phoenix, who doesn't appear in the video, is also spreading the message, appearing on social media wearing a t-shirt bearing the "The Only Cure is Kindness" message.

"It's absolutely amazing, because just as the international stars were recording their video clips, our team in Vietnam got a call saying that two baby bears needed to be rescued", said Jill Robinson MBE, founder and CEO of Animals Asia, who also appears in the video.

"It's brilliant to be able to welcome all of these household names into the Animals Asia family. By helping us mark Moon Bear Day and our historic agreement with the Vietnam Government, these global stars are raising awareness about the suffering caused by the bear bile industry", she continued.

"Our supporters have been so generous in supporting our work, but the task ahead is formidable", continued Robinson. "Animals Asia plans to help rescue up to 500 bears from 142 farms in Vietnam, so they can live out their lives in a sanctuary with world class care. This will take time, effort and resources – by lending their voices, these luminaries are sending a message to each and everyone one of us: that The Only Cure is Kindness."

"With the campaign to end bear bile farming in Vietnam close to realisation, Jill Robinson and Animals Asia have truly been leading the way, and I hope that their model of kindness in action will be rolled out across Asia", said famed British ethologist and anthropologist Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder – the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace. "We've all now experienced what it's like to be cooped up for a few short months and I believe people will now have more empathy for the innocent and intelligent creatures who can be trapped on farms, in horrible conditions, for decades. It's clear, The Only Cure is Kindness".

"As a Vietnamese-American, I am proud of how Animals Asia is working closely on a plan with the Vietnamese government to put the bears' welfare first, in collaboration with the people of Vietnam – the overwhelming majority of whom have nothing to do with bear farming " said actor and film star and Animals Asia spokesperson Maggie Q, who adopted a moon bear – named Phoenix – in 2019 4.

"Thanks to the work of Animals Asia, Vietnam's traditional medical association has agreed to stop prescribing bear bile. Animals Asia is also working respectfully with communities throughout Vietnam, including in areas which have been bear farm hotspots. They're educating kids in the wider community about animal welfare, and training up Vietnamese veterinarians and animal welfare specialists." she continued. "I am proud to support the changes that will help moon bears in Vietnam – my country and my mother's country."

    About Moon Bear Day
Moon Bear Day was created to mark the anniversary of the founding of Animals Asia on 8
August 1998, and is an annual opportunity to bring attention to the plight of the Asiatic black bear, or ‘moon bear', and to further Animals Asia's work to end bear bile farming.

    Bear Rescue Sanctuaries
Animals Asia operates world-class bear rescue sanctuaries in Chengdu, China and Tam Dao, Vietnam, where bears are rehabilitated and cared for, and where our bear teams gather vital evidence on the effects of bile extraction. The sanctuaries provide the bears with comfortable dens and semi-natural enclosures where they are able to recover in safety and spend the remaining years of their lives in the company of other bears. To date, Animals Asia have rescued 634 bears.

Zoonotic Diseases and Respect for Nature
With statistics showing that approximately 75% of emerging infectious diseases affecting humans are zoonotic (animal based), accounting for billions of cases of illness and millions of deaths each year, our treatment of animals is now fully in the spotlight 5.

    About Bear Bile Farms
The extraction of bear bile from live bears causes unimaginable suffering and long term health problems for these physically and psychologically damaged animals. A number of techniques exist, all of which are particularly gruesome. While the techniques vary between Vietnam and China, each involves bears being kept in tiny cages. Extraction methods range from "free drip" where the bear suffers a hole in their gallbladder, to the insertion of permanent catheters.

Bear bile has been used in traditional Asian medicine for thousands of years. It contains high levels of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) known to be useful for treating liver and gallbladder conditions. However, there are now many readily available herbal and synthetic alternatives with the same medicinal properties, there is no argument for the use of bear bile.

With over 10,000 bears held on legal bear bile farms in China, Animals Asia is working with the farmers, the government, traditional medical associations and community to build trust and awareness around the animal welfare issues associated with the trade, highlight the dangers that consumption of wildlife products like bear bile present to humans, and promote the use of synthetic and plant based substitutes to bear bile as a more humane alternative. In Vietnam the figure is reportedly around 438; although the practice was outlawed in 1992, numbers of bears on farms continued to rise until 2005, when all bears were microchipped to stem any further expansion to the industry.

Animals Asia's outreach in both bear farming and non-bear farming areas also addresses herbal alternatives to bear bile, the welfare of other captive animal species. and general wildlife protection.

  • On Saturday, August 15th, Morrison Hotel Gallery and its partners are proud to present (DE)TOUR, a daylong charity music festival featuring an all-star lineup of artists working in association with MusiCares®, National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), and Spotify in support of fellow artists, crew members, and independent venues and promoters.

When the coronavirus pandemic struck -- pressing pause on all live tours and concerts and putting many touring artists and crew members out of work -- the gallery went to work to forge a new kind of virtual show for these extraordinary times.

(DE)TOUR promises to be a show like no other. Featuring performances by iconic artists including Ringo Starr, Linda Perry, Slash, Gavin Rossdale, Macy Gray, Sean Lennon, Jesse Malin, Cheap Trick, Taylor Momsen and The Badflower, John Oates, David Johansen, Billy Gibbons, Darryl McDaniels (a.k.a. DMC), Gilby Clarke, Donita Sparks, Matt Sorum, Lzzy Hale, Bluebonnets, Charlotte Muhl, David Ramirez, Al Barr, Eve Monsees, Scream, Haley Reinhart, Joseph Arthur, Kathy Valentine, Lenny Kaye, Mickey Thomas, Mike Flanigin, South of Eden, Steve Stevens, Sue Foley, The Cringe, Uni, Vintage Trouble, AWOLNATION, Mike Garson, Meg Toohey, Carmine Rojas, and more. The evening will also include appearances by celebrated music photographers Mick Rock, Bob Gruen, Henry Diltz, Danny Clinch, and Lynn Goldsmith.

Experience the livestream and learn more at RollingLiveStudios.com.

(DE)TOUR brings together the brightest stars of the music world in order to combat widespread tour cancellations and continued financial uncertainty faced by thousands of music industry professionals.

"Morrison Hotel Gallery is doing what it does best: reminding people of the power of music and community," says Timothy White, co-owner of Morrison Hotel Gallery.

Rolling Live founder Kerry Brown also points to the transformative power of music during times of need. "Life may take a detour," says Brown, "but rock and roll never does."

With (DE)TOUR, Morrison Hotel Gallery takes the new normal to the next level, offering patrons all-day, unlimited access to YouTube Live streamed performances of festival headliners. Stars will deliver intimate performances from their own homes, as well as stunning shows from the otherwise vacant stages of legendary music venues throughout the nation, including New York City's Bowery Electric, West Hollywood's Whisky a Go Go, The Roxy Theatre, and the Viper Room -- with numerous surprise stops and celebrity guests along the way. (DE)TOUR will be hosted by Spotify Global Head of Rock Allison Hagendorf and famed MTV/VH1 personality Matt Pinfield.

An all-access experience tailored for music fans, (DE)TOUR is created to honor and assist music's unsung heroes. With no cost for admission and donations accepted in real time via YouTube Live and Facebook Live, Spotify will match donations to MusiCares® dollar-for-dollar up to a collective total of $10 Million through its Covid-19 Music Relief project, with all proceeds being split between MusiCares® and NIVA.

Spotify has also created a special (De)Tour playlist featuring songs from the performers — listen HERE.

A special VIP Fundraiser Experience with exclusive merchandise and a backstage Zoom meet & greet will be offered via NoCapshows.com next week.

The Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable foundation MusiCares® established the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help their peers in the music community affected by the coronavirus pandemic. While the Recording Academy is best known for the GRAMMY Awards telecast, it serves the music community year-round by providing emergency aid through MusiCares®, as well as performing advocacy work to protect musicians' rights.

Formed in the days following the shutdown, NIVA works to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live music venues and promoters throughout the United States. Independent venues exist in every state across the country. They were the first to close, have zero revenue, enormous overhead, and there's no view into when they can reopen. When surveyed, 90% of NIVA members reported that if the shutdown lasts six months or longer and there's no federal assistance, they will be forced to shutter forever. To enable their 2,500 members' survival, NIVA is advocating for the passage of the bipartisan Save Our Stages Act and RESTART Act. People can contact their elected representatives through SaveOurStages.com to ask them to support these bills.

(DE)TOUR is made possible by a long lineup of festival sponsors and partners, including Rolling Live Studios, MusiCares®, Sports Illustrated, Volcom, Roland Corporation, Jack Daniels, YouTube, Spotify, and the Condé Nast Collection.

"We have connected with the team at Rolling Live Studios for so many great causes. The (DE)TOUR festival is honoring both musicians and legendary music venues in a truly meaningful way for us all," adds Brian Alli, VP of Artist Relations for Roland Corporation.

Morrison Hotel® Gallery is the world's leading brand in fine art music photography representing over 125 of the world's finest music photographers and their archives. • Los Angeles, California, August 11, 2020 -- Leaders in entertainment, business, philanthropy, politics, and the arts will gather virtually for a livestream of the 5th Annual Big Sunday Gala, celebrating more than two decades of the organization's work and three distinguished honorees -- Michael Skloff, Tiffany Smith-Anoa'i and Hulu on Wednesday evening, August 12th beginning at 7:00 PM PT.

Longtime friend of the organization, Patricia Heaton ("Everybody Loves Raymond", "The Middle") will present ViacomCBS' Tiffany Smith-Anoa'i with her award. The evening will include a special performance by Michael Skloff of the poignant new version of the classic theme song "I'll Be There for You," which he recently released as an expression of comfort, solace and unity during the pandemic. David Baron, VP of Content Business Operations & Digital Supply at Hulu (and a Big Sunday Board member) will receive the award on behalf of the company. The event will be a midsummer's evening of great entertainment, new video, and many other surprises. The livestream can be viewed here.

Big Sunday is one of the USA's foremost organizations connecting people through helping and opportunities to volunteer. During the pandemic, while continuing to work from home, Big Sunday has been busier than ever, reaching out, helping people, and staying connected in numerous different ways. Through its Foot The Bill Fund, Big Sunday has provided emergency grants of up to $100 to more than 2,000 families in 160 towns and cities in California and fourteen other states.

Big Sunday provided over ten thousand meals at more than 25 hospitals to frontline healthcare workers, and maximized this initiative by ordering the food from local restaurants to help them and their employees during an especially difficult time, and also employed Lyft drivers to help deliver the food.

Big Sunday provided temporary paid employment for many people including: restaurant workers, caterers, musicians, magicians, dancers, yoga instructors, home organizers, drivers, photographers, cinematographers, film editors, printers, artists and others.

In addition to a full slate of virtual programming, Big Sunday introduced a daily email (Monday through Friday,) which includes ways people can connect, help, and stay entertained. Big Sunday remains in touch with its sister nonprofits all over California, responding to various needs from these organizations as they arise. Big Sunday's 3rd Annual Summer List is now posted listing more than 150 ways that people can help both at Big Sunday and with the organization's nonprofit partners. These include hands-on helping opportunities (for those who are aware of the risk, yet feel comfortable participating), giving opportunities, and virtual programming, as well as many other ways to help and to connect. Beginning on July 1 through August 12, Big Sunday's headquarters on Melrose is open every Wednesday morning for a few hours to allow people to drop off items to be given away to those who are struggling. Each weekly collection, which is contactless and socially distanced, has a special focus and goal (e.g., food, clothing), with a multitude of different necessary and emergency items collected over the past six weeks. Big Sunday is also hosting its annual Back-To-School Drive over the course of a week (August 10 -- August 13) during which small groups of 10 volunteers will work in several safe, masked, socially-distanced shifts to fill more than 2,000 backpacks for several schools throughout the region.

All three Gala honorees have participated with Big Sunday for many years.

Michael Skloff has a long and impressive career as a composer, arranger, music producer, music director and performer. He has been an integral and beloved part of the Big Sunday family as a volunteer, board member, benefactor and friend since 1999, when Big Sunday was a single day of service. Back then, Skloff and his family led a group that volunteered at a local retirement home. He brought his well-known musical skill, along with his usual warmth and good humor to the project. It was a memorable event, and Skloff returned numerous times over the years. In those early years, Skloff and his family hosted a culminating pizza party for hundreds of volunteers numerous times, and soon after that provided free t-shirts for all the volunteers. Skloff is a charter member of "The World Famous Big Sunday Band", a group that has played for a decade at the Annual Big Sunday Holiday Singalong, where the guests of honor are young people with special needs to who love to sing carols with others. He has also performed at Big Sunday's Music Night (helping collect necessities for homeless youth) and is a frequent volunteer at many Big Sunday events from school beautifications to harbor cruises.

"I support Big Sunday because they continue to show me that when we help each other we close the gaps between us, and that act has the power to heal the world. We need Big Sunday now more than ever before," said Skloff.

Skloff embodies everything the Big Sunday organization tries to do, and his generous and giving spirit and all-around humanity embodies everything the organization strives for. Big Sunday would not be where it is today without Michael Skloff.

Tiffany Smith-Anoa'i is a visionary. A graduate of Howard University with honors, she joined CBS Entertainment as a Senior Publicist for primetime series in 2000. Since then she has been promoted to Director of Publicity, Entertainment Communications for primetime series, movies and specials. Most recently, she was promoted to Executive Vice President, Entertainment Diversity & Inclusion, West Coast, ViacomCBS.
This is a department she fought for and helped to create. In this position, Smith-Anoa'i oversees the entertainment division's diversity and inclusion initiatives and develops new programs that recruit, nurture and hire inclusive talent to work in front of and behind the camera. In addition, she serves as the entertainment liaison to multicultural coalitions and provides outreach to agencies, guilds and other industry organizations. Smith-Anoa'i also created and launched CBS ON TOUR, a community outreach program in which executives visit schools to educate and encourage students interested in entertainment careers. She also expanded the writer selection process for "The CBS Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase"; implemented an annual symposium with casting directors to strategize on best practices to diversify the casting process; partnered with GLAAD to host learning workshops; and joined forces with the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media to encourage roles for women in front of and behind the camera. In February 2018, Smith-Anoa'i co-founded and helped launch "Eye Speak," a program designed to promote female empowerment and help forge a path of growth and opportunity for women, both inside and outside of CBS. Smith- Anoa'i has many philanthropic involvements, including The Human Rights Campaign, #SeeHer and Jack and Jill of America among many others.

Smith-Anoa'i wears many hats at Big Sunday: respected board member, important fundraiser, and valuable volunteer wrangler. Big Sunday was introduced to CBS and to Smith-Anoa'i several years ago at Big Sunday's Annual Thanksgiving Stuffing Event. Annually on the day before Thanksgiving, an enormous crowd of people of all ages and backgrounds come together to fill thousands of bags of delicious holiday food for grateful and hungry people while also enjoying a big community breakfast. Smith-Anoa'i approved a generous donation for that event and CBS's financial support was instrumental in allowing Big Sunday to fill more bags that helped more people. At the same it, it also allowed Big Sunday to accommodate more good-hearted people who wanted to join in and help. Even better, Smith-Anoa'i brought along a large group of her CBS colleagues to participate. This started a wonderful tradition with Smith-Anoa'i and her many co-workers at CBS becoming a staple at Big Sunday's Annual Thanksgiving Stuffing Event. It was also clear that Smith-Anoa'i and Big Sunday's mission were very much aligned. Big Sunday has been fighting to be welcoming and inclusive to everyone since the organization's inception. Smith-Anoa'i's track record on diversity and inclusion, and her sincere and deep-seated commitment to it, made her a logical and, indeed, important choice to join the Big Sunday board. Smith-Anoa'i has also participated in other Big Sunday events, such as the Annual MLK Day Clothing Drive and Community Breakfast joining in as part of a "Mother-Daughter" group from The Archer School.

"I have been working with Big Sunday for many years and every year we partner I am renewed by their commitment and passion to helping those in need. A testament to that commitment is holding last year's Thanksgiving Stuffing event in the pouring rain with smiles on everyone's faces and the steadfast determination to feed families who were without during the holidays. This is truly an organization that helps people help others. I will always support Big Sunday and I hope we can continue to spread this message and purpose to others for years to come. Ever onward!" said Smith- Anoa'i.

Big Sunday is very lucky to have Tiffany Smith- Anoa'i as part of the Big Sunday family, and the organization is delighted to honor her.

Hulu was started just over a decade ago but the company already has an extremely impressive history. Since its founding, Hulu has established itself as the leading premium streaming service offering live and on-demand TV and movies, with and without commercials, both in and outside the home. Launched in 2008, Hulu is the only service that gives viewers instant access to current shows from every major U.S. broadcast network. They also have libraries of hit TV series and films, including acclaimed Hulu Originals like Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale and The Act, Golden Globe Award-winning series Ramy, Emmy Award-nominated series including The Looming Tower, Catch-22, Castle Rock, and Pen15 alongside hit series Marvel's Runaways, Dollface, Shrill, and Oscar and Emmy-nominated documentary film Minding the Gap. Just as impressive is that Hulu is committed to giving back to the communities where their employees live and work. They are also especially dedicated to helping a large part of their audience: our youth.

Hulu has been a valued and vital Big Sunday supporter for a number of years, assisting the organization through both donations and sweat equity. Big Sunday started partnering with Hulu when the organization was brought in to organize and facilitate Hulu's annual Hulapalooza, where every Hulu office around the world closes for the day so that Hulu employees (Hulagans) can go out and give back to their community. Big Sunday was hired to find and plan service events for the more than 1200 people in Hulu's Los Angeles branch. That first event was so successful -- impactful, gratifying and fun -- that Hulu hired Big Sunday to plan the event again in 2019. By now, Hulu had added even more employees, so the projects grew in scope and impact. This time Hulu wanted to focus on helping young people -- from toddlers to young adults -- in all their projects. With these events, Hulu helps countless people and organizations. Here are just a few examples: painting the gym for struggling young women at The Aviva Center; landscaping at Allies for All Children, which helps children who have been abused; cleaning the LA River in the Valley and the beach on the Westside; creating, furnishing and stocking a library with thousands of books at a Title I school in Boyle Heights; hosting literacy parties for underserved kids in mid-city; providing needed maintenance at a residence for homeless women and children in Koreatown; and doing an enormous two-part beautification at a local Title I elementary school in Baldwin Hills. In between, Hulu was not only a sponsor of Big Sunday's Annual Holiday Singalong (where our guests of honor are young people with special needs), but the company sent a nice crowd to help sing along, cheering on and joining in with the young people who had worked hard to learn and perform a few memorable Christmas carols. Hulu employees also assisted with Big Sunday's holiday toy drive and the organization's winter food collection. Big Sunday is also pleased and proud to have David Baron, Vice President Content Partnerships, as a member of Big Sunday's Board of Directors. It is worth noting that everyone, from the highest level executives to the newest interns have rolled up their sleeves to work together, make a difference and have fun participating in Hulu's projects with Big Sunday.

"Hulu is proud to have worked with Big Sunday for the past two years on our largest annual community service event, and we're looking forward to a third year of partnership in 2020. When choosing a partner, it was important for us to find an organization that understands the needs of the community, is able to connect us with groups on a personal level, and a team that can help us live out Hulu's Give Back mission to help the next generation of youth break through. The Big Sunday team's dedication to service is admirable, and they have some of the biggest hearts we've ever seen. Over the past two years, from Big Sunday staff to their volunteer leaders, everyone made sure that our Hulu team understood the impact they were making, felt like they made a difference in their community, and of course, had a great time volunteering. It's an easy decision to support Big Sunday," said Hulu.

Hulu represents the best in Corporate Social Responsibility. Big Sunday is very grateful and fortunate to be able to honor such a fine company and wonderful supporter.

Big Sunday (www.bigsunday.org) has been connecting people with opportunities to help, volunteer and to do good works together since 1999. Founded in Los Angeles 21 years ago by David Levinson with just 300 volunteers, Big Sunday has touched over a 1 million lives, engaging, empowering and uniting people of every imaginable background all over California, from San Diego to San Francisco, in 10 different states as well as Australia and the UK. Big Sunday has completed in excess of 1.75 million volunteer man-hours and the organization has collected and distributed hundreds of thousands of items of clothing, food, toiletries, and other essentials. Big Sunday has completed over 30,000 volunteer projects worth millions of dollars in donated goods and services. Recognized nationally, Big Sunday is one of the USA's premiere resources for helping year-round. Big Sunday functions as an efficient and impactful clearing-house of volunteerism and community engagement, organizing and facilitating numerous programs and a host of unique ways for people of every age, background and means to volunteer and/or give, making it easy for diverse people to participate in good works together to support the huge variety of causes that they care about. The organization works as a resource that unites, hosts, and is connected with hundreds of individuals, families and communities, engaging, empowering and bringing together tens of thousands of volunteers from every walk of life. Big Sunday's mission is to connect people and build community via helping. The organization is driven by the belief that absolutely everyone has some way that they can help someone else. Big Sunday events and programs have become more popular than ever, as people search for a way to focus on what we share in common and to celebrate Big Sunday's belief that we are all in it together. Big Sunday was named by the Points of Light Foundation as one of "10 national nonprofits that are making a tremendous impact on our country's most critical challenges by mobilizing volunteers…These organizations also demonstrate a collaborative spirit through partnerships with other organizations to help strengthen communities across the nation."

  • Menlo Park, CA | New York (August 11, 2020) – A dramatic bidding war erupted during the V Foundation Virtual Wine Celebration this weekend, as bidders vied to own the world's only ruby-encrusted Jeroboam bottle, co-designed by longtime Foundation supporters Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry and Gemstone Vineyard.

Celebrities supported the V Foundation0s auction raising funds for V Scholars, the innovative young scientists who are the lifeline of research for the organization.

The ruby-encrusted Jeroboam Cabernet Sauvignon, a 2019 future of Gemstone's Ruby Barrel Selection bottled by premier winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, was just one part of an experiential auction package (lot 4) that also included a private dinner for 6 and the opportunity to later remove and reset the bottle's rubies into a custom piece designed by Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry. Interest in the lot was so high, even down to the final moments of the virtual auction, that Wine Celebration Board members Amy Dornbusch and Jared Silver volunteered to produce another 3 identical bottles and offer identical auction lots to the three other competing bidders. The four total lots sold for $75,000 each. Silver, Dornbusch, select fellow Wine Celebration board members, and a small group of friends watched the digital action unfold at a socially distanced gathering at Adam and Amy Dornbusch's private home, raising a toast to a successful collaboration and quadrupled bids, which together contributed $300,000 towards the auction's total proceeds of over $3.6 million raised for cancer research.

The virtual auction was hosted by NCAA basketball coaching legend Mike "Coach K" Krzyzewski, ESPN's SportsCenter Anchor, Sage Steele, and featured surprise celebrity guests and entertainers including Katie Couric. Amy and Adam Dornbusch and Jared Silver were joined at the intimate Napa Valley watch party by fellow Wine Celebration Board Members Marc Rollins (with Whitney Michiels) and Barry Chandler Williams, as well as special guests Caitlin and Stuart Landesberg, Douglas Cortina, Kristen Winzent, Clinton Yara, Brett Geist, James Herbert, Adrienne Lin, and Sara Wortman. The guests toasted the surprise turn of events, as one auction lot turned into four Ruby Jeroboam Futures packages, far exceeding expectations. The winning bidders included Nan and Wayne Kocourek, Cindy and Evan Goldberg, and two additional anonymous bidders.

The winning bidders included Nan and Wayne Kocourek, Cindy and Evan Goldberg, and two additional anonymous bidders. Each will receive a 2019 Future of Gemstone Vineyard's exclusive Ruby Barrel selection. Once aged to perfection and artfully blended by Thomas Rivers Brown (2018 Wine Spectator: "Napa's Top Gun"), the exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon will be poured into each 3L Jeroboam bottle, etched, waxed, expertly set with rubies hand-selected by Jared Silver, and presented in a custom ‘jewelry' box. These special auction lots mark the first time the waitlist only Ruby Barrel Selection has ever been offered in a large format 3L edition, and they are certainly the first to be so elaborately etched and adorned with gems.

The auction packages also included a private dining and wine-tasting experience for six with the Silver and the Dornbusch families, and a future chance to collaborate with Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry on a custom ruby design, extracting the gemstones after the wine has been consumed to reset into a custom jewelry piece created by the Silvers' team of designers and artisans.

The Silvers and the Dornbuschs have long been friendly, sharing a love for local philanthropy and having found common ground as producers and purveyors of rare, collectible commodities that require the right conditions, passion, and expertise to create. Their friendship continued to flourish once Jared Silver joined Gemstone Vineyards Proprietor Amy Marks Dornbusch on the V Foundation Wine Celebration Board in 2019. This bottle collaboration for the Wine Celebration was the fruit of their close collaboration, as the Board sought to make this year's auction lots more exclusive than ever before.

The virtual watch parties included performances by Tony Award-winning artist Christian Hoff, multi-platinum artist Andy Grammer, and musician, humanitarian, & activist, Michael Franti.

Jared Silver, President of Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry: "The auction results certainly exceeded our expectations. We are so proud to be able to raise even more funds for the V Foundation. It's clear that the success of this auction item is a testament to the longstanding commitment of the friends of the V Foundation, as well as the incredible partnership that resulted in the first of its kind ruby Jeroboam. It warms my heart to know that these magnificent bottles will be on display in four of the most prominent wine cellars in the world and that we raised $300,000, ensuring vital funds continue to go to cancer research.

Amy Dornbusch, Proprietor, Gemstone Vineyard: "This is an incredibly special collaboration and important to us for many reasons. I have been on the board of the V Foundation Wine Celebration for 7 years and my family has supported this phenomenal organization for over 20. Jared and Stephen Silver have become great friends of ours through this community and through our positions on the board. This collaborative project is a testament to our friendship and our shared desire to find a cure for cancer. Named after our daughter, the Ruby Barrel Selection is the most special Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate; a wine that is crafted by tasting through every single one of our barrels and selecting the 4 most distinctive of the vintage. There is as much thought and deliberate attention to quality and detail put into our wines as the Silvers dedicate to crafting their exquisite pieces. We are thrilled to offer this "gem" as it is such a meaningful alignment of the values behind Gemstone, the Stephen Silver brand, and the winning bidder. It is my sincere belief that we will find a cure for cancer long before this Jeroboam reaches its aging potential. I hope the enjoyment of our 2019 Ruby Cabernet serves as the ultimate celebration for finding a cure, and the beautiful Stephen Silver adornment its lasting legacy!"
